Forest Mine

A small, hidden illegal mining camp nestled in a quiet forest clearing. A dense treeline of pine and deciduous trees forms a rough oval border around a modest cleared dirt yard, with a few scattered trees and boulders inside for cover. On one side, a rough-cut tunnel entrance braced with timber leads into a low earthen rise, its interior fading into darkness. In the yard: a wooden ore cart, a small canvas-roofed lean-to sheltering two bedrolls and a cold firepit, a stack of sealed iron-and-lead-bound crates, hand tools like pickaxes and shovels leaned against the shelter, and a few low piles of crushed grey tailings near the tunnel mouth. A well-worn dirt path connects the tunnel and the yard. The scene features muted, overcast forest lighting, an autumn color palette, and moss and undergrowth at the treeline edges. The tall trees surrounding the clearing cast long shadows across it, with only a little light filtering through.
