Question 1

Can I use TT-RPG maps in paid / professional game sessions?

Accepted Answer

Yes, absolutely! Professional and paid Game Masters are welcome to use maps, tokens, and handouts generated with TT-RPG in their paid sessions. We simply ask that you mention TT-RPG to your players in some form. No proof of mention is required. This policy is detailed in our Terms of Service, section 5.

Question 2

What credit packs are there and do credits expire?

Accepted Answer

We offer three convenient one-time credit packs via Stripe, with no subscription required: Small (€5.99 for 14 credits), Medium (€14.99 for 42 credits, 20% more value), and Large (€29.99 for 100 credits, 40% more value). One credit typically covers a standard generation (map, token, handout, effect), while 4K maps or upgrades cost 2 credits. Purchased credits never expire and are used after your free credits, which refill at 1 every 12 hours up to a maximum of 3.

Question 3

Can I use an animated map in Foundry VTT or Roll20?

Accepted Answer

Yes, absolutely! You can download your animated maps as high-quality WebM videos at the map's original resolution, completely free of grids or watermarks. These files are perfect for use as video backgrounds in Foundry VTT, Roll20, and any other virtual tabletop that supports video playback. During a live TT-RPG session, you can also play or pause the animation for all your players.

Question 4

How much does animating a map cost, and why can't I use free credits?

Accepted Answer

Animating a map costs 3 purchased credits. If you're animating a copied community map, it costs an additional 1 credit, which supports the original creator. Free credits cannot be used for this premium feature. Purchased credits never expire and are always used after any free credits you have, which refill at 1 every 12 hours up to a maximum of 3.

Question 5

What are animated maps and how do I create one?

Accepted Answer

Animated maps bring your battlefields to life! In the map editor, simply click "Animate" to transform your finished map into a seamless looping video. Watch as water flows, fire flickers, and mist moves, all while your map's core elements remain unchanged. The process takes a few minutes and runs in a queue; if it fails, your credits are refunded. You can toggle animations off or on, and public animated maps display a special badge.

Question 6

How does token facing and rotation work, and why is it important for gameplay?

Accepted Answer

Token facing and rotation add a crucial layer of tactical depth and realism to your battle maps in TT-RPG. Every token carries a facing direction, visually represented by a small white arrow on its chrome, indicating which way your character or creature is looking.

When you drag a token across the map, it intelligently auto-rotates to look toward the direction it moved, snapping to 45-degree increments for smooth, intuitive positioning. This makes basic movement feel natural and ensures your tokens are always oriented realistically. For more precise control, especially when aiming a sight cone or representing a specific stance, you can use the press-and-hold rotation button on the radial hover menu. This allows you to spin the token at approximately 80 degrees per second, giving you fine-tuned aiming capabilities.

This feature is vital for gameplay because it directly influences line of sight and tactical positioning. A character facing a specific direction might have a limited vision cone, making them vulnerable to attacks from the rear or flanks. It allows GMs to enforce realistic combat scenarios and encourages players to think strategically about their token's orientation, enhancing immersion and tactical decision-making.

Question 7

How do I choose which TTRPG system the Rules Chatbot uses for its answers?

Accepted Answer

The Rules Chatbot is designed to be flexible and cater to your preferred game system. Within the Campaign Helper's Rulebook Mode, you'll find a single-select picker that allows you to choose your preferred TTRPG system. This setting is saved as your `User.preferredRulebookSystem` and will be the default system the chatbot queries.

If you leave this preference null, the chatbot will query all available ingested systems, providing answers that might draw from multiple SRDs if relevant. However, for focused rules discussions, selecting your primary game system ensures the chatbot prioritizes information from that specific rulebook, making its responses even more precise.

This flexibility is crucial for GMs who run campaigns across different systems or want to quickly reference rules for a specific game. The chatbot will always cite which rulebook each claim came from, regardless of your preference, so you can always verify the source of the information.

Question 8

What is the Rules Chatbot (Rulebook Mode) and how can it help me during a session?

Accepted Answer

The Rules Chatbot, accessible through the Campaign Helper's 'Rulebook Mode,' is your ultimate in-session rules assistant. Designed to keep your game flowing, it provides instant answers to rules questions without you needing to flip through physical books or search online. It's grounded *only* on legally redistributable TTRPG System Reference Documents (SRDs) bundled with the app, such as D&D 5e SRD, Fate Core, and Pathfinder 2e ORC.

When you ask a question, the chatbot retrieves relevant passages from these official sources and provides a concise answer, complete with inline citations (e.g., `[1]`, `[2]`) directly linking back to the source text. This ensures you're getting accurate, verifiable information, never a hallucination or general knowledge fallback. It's like having an expert rules lawyer at your fingertips, ready to settle disputes or clarify mechanics in seconds.

This feature is a game-changer for maintaining momentum during your sessions. Instead of pausing the action to look up a specific spell effect or combat maneuver, you can get a reliable answer almost instantly, keeping your players engaged and immersed in the story.

Question 9

Can the Rules Chatbot answer questions about my specific campaign content?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely! The Rules Chatbot in TT-RPG is not just a static rulebook; it's context-aware and can cross-reference your own campaign content alongside the official SRDs. This means you can ask highly specific questions that blend rules with your unique world.

For example, you could ask, "What spells fit my stealthy NPC?" or "How would the rules for climbing apply to the giant tree in my Whispering Woods map?" The chatbot will leverage its understanding of the bundled SRDs and combine it with the information stored in your campaign documents, tokens, and maps to provide a tailored and relevant answer.

This powerful capability allows you to integrate rules seamlessly into your narrative, ensuring consistency and helping you make informed decisions that align with both the game system and your custom world. It truly makes the Campaign Helper an indispensable tool for GMs.

Question 10

Do revealed areas in the fog of war stay visible for players, or do they disappear?

Accepted Answer

One of the most practical aspects of TT-RPG's dynamic fog reveal system is its persistence. When your player characters explore a new area and their token vision uncovers the fog of war, those revealed sections remain visible on their screens. This isn't a temporary reveal; it's a lasting record of their journey.

Think of it as the party's collective memory of the explored map. If they backtrack to a previously visited room or corridor, that area will still be clear of fog, just as they remember it. This eliminates the need for you, the GM, to constantly re-reveal areas or for players to try and recall what was there.

This persistent reveal significantly enhances the flow of exploration and reduces GM overhead. It allows players to navigate complex dungeons or sprawling cities with a clear understanding of where they've been, fostering a stronger sense of progression and immersion in your campaign.

Question 11

How does the NPC Sight Indicator help me manage stealth and line of sight for my monsters?

Accepted Answer

Managing line of sight for numerous NPCs during a stealth encounter can be a headache, but TT-RPG's GM-only NPC Sight Indicator makes it effortless. This feature provides instant visual feedback on which NPCs can currently see any player character, streamlining your decision-making during tense moments.

Whenever an NPC with a configured vision range has a player character within its line of sight, a dashed red ring will appear around that NPC's token. This visual cue immediately tells you, the GM, that the NPC has spotted a PC, allowing you to make quick and informed decisions about stealth checks or initiating combat.

Beyond the visual ring, the NPC's token panel will also list the names of the specific player characters it can see. This means you no longer need to manually trace lines of sight or guess if a PC is hidden. The NPC Sight Indicator empowers you to run more dynamic and accurate stealth encounters with minimal effort, keeping the focus on the narrative tension.

Question 12

How do I enable automatic fog of war revelation based on my players' token vision?

Accepted Answer

Say goodbye to manually painting fog of war! TT-RPG offers a powerful dynamic fog reveal system that automatically uncovers the map as your player characters explore. To activate this, navigate to the 'Fog Settings' within the map editor's Play Mode and toggle on the 'Auto-reveal with token vision' option.

Once enabled, any player-character token with vision configured will automatically paint its visibility polygon onto the fog grid as it moves. This means as your party delves deeper into a dungeon or explores a new town, the map reveals itself organically, just as it would in a physical game. Walls and other line-of-sight blockers you've placed will correctly obstruct vision, adding to the realism.

A key benefit of this system is that fog reveals are persistent. The areas your players have explored remain visible, acting as a 'memory' of the map. This allows your party to retrace their steps or refer back to previously visited locations without the GM needing to re-reveal areas, keeping the focus on the narrative and exploration.

Question 13

What is 'Token Vision' and how do I configure it for my characters?

Accepted Answer

Token Vision is a core component of TT-RPG's immersive live session experience, allowing you to define exactly what each character can see on the map. Every placed token has a dedicated 'Vision' section in its properties panel, giving you granular control over their line of sight.

You can configure several parameters: `visionRange` (in cells, with 0 meaning no sight), `visionAngle` (from 1 to 360 degrees for cones or full circles), and `visionRotation` (an offset in degrees from the token's facing). By default, player characters (PCs) are set with a 6-cell range and a 360-degree vision circle, while NPCs typically start with no vision, which you can adjust as needed.

As the GM, you'll see a visual preview of each token's sight cone when you hover over or select it, helping you understand their field of view at a glance. This precision control over token vision is essential for implementing stealth mechanics, ambushes, and exploring dark environments, making your tactical encounters more engaging and realistic.

Question 14

How do interactive doors work, and how do they affect line of sight for my players?

Accepted Answer

Interactive doors in TT-RPG are a game-changer for dynamic encounters. Once you've placed doors or secret doors using the Walls layer, they become clickable elements during normal play. This means you can open or close them on the fly, reacting to your players' actions in real-time.

The magic happens instantly: when you open a door, the line of sight and dynamic fog reveal for all connected players update immediately. This eliminates the tedious task of manually adjusting fog of war or drawing new sight lines when a door is breached or secured. It keeps the action flowing and maintains immersion.

Imagine your party kicking down a door into a monster's lair – with a single click, the new area is revealed, and the tactical implications of the open doorway are immediately apparent to everyone at the table. This feature ensures that your map reacts as dynamically as your players do, enhancing the drama and realism of your sessions.

Question 15

How do I add walls, doors, and windows to my battle maps in TT-RPG?

Accepted Answer

Bringing your battle maps to life with realistic line of sight is crucial for immersive gameplay. In TT-RPG, you can easily place walls, doors, windows, and even secret doors directly within the map editor's Play Mode. Simply switch to the 'Walls' layer, and you'll find intuitive tools to draw these elements.

The wall editor features a smart snap-to-grid system, ensuring your placements are perfectly aligned with your map's grid. It's also 'joint-aware,' meaning wall segments connect smoothly, making it easy to outline complex structures like buildings or dungeon corridors. You can drag endpoints to adjust their length and position with precision.

There are four types of wall elements: `wall`, `door`, `secret-door`, and `window`. Walls, doors, and secret doors all block line of sight when closed, adding a layer of tactical depth to your encounters. Windows, however, are see-through, allowing for visual cues without providing a clear path. These placements are saved per map and sync live to your players' views, ensuring everyone sees the same battlefield.

Question 16

As a GM, how can I prevent players from moving specific tokens?

Accepted Answer

While TT-RPG gives players the freedom to move their assigned tokens, Game Masters retain ultimate control with the ability to lock specific tokens in place. This is crucial for managing static NPCs, downed player characters, or environmental elements that should not be moved by players.

To lock a token, simply hover over it in the map editor. A small action pill will appear. Within this pill, you'll find a toggle specifically for 'Movement Lock'. Clicking this toggle will prevent any player, even if assigned to that token, from dragging it across the map. The GM can still move the token, but players will be unable to.

This feature is incredibly useful for maintaining the integrity of your map and narrative. You can lock down a crucial objective, a fallen hero, or an unmoving monster, ensuring that players only interact with the map in ways you intend, while still enjoying the freedom to move their active characters.

Question 17

How do players move their assigned tokens during a live session?

Accepted Answer

TT-RPG empowers players with more agency during live sessions by allowing them to effortlessly move their assigned tokens. This feature streamlines exploration and combat, making player movement feel more natural and interactive, without needing GM intervention for every step.

Once a GM has assigned a token to a player, that player can simply click and drag their token across the map on their own device. This movement is instantly synced to the GM's screen and all other connected players, creating a seamless shared experience. This means players can explore dungeons, position themselves for combat, or simply move around a town without constantly asking the GM to shift their piece.

This freedom of movement is available at any time during a live session, not just during combat. It fosters a more engaging and less restrictive play experience, letting players take direct control of their characters' positions on the battle map.

Question 18

What's the easiest way to select multiple tokens and effects on my map?

Accepted Answer

Managing numerous elements on a busy battle map is now more efficient than ever with TT-RPG's enhanced multi-selection capabilities. You can easily select multiple tokens and effects simultaneously, streamlining your workflow whether you're setting up a scene or reacting to player actions.

There are two primary methods for multi-selection: First, you can hold down the `Shift` key and click on each token or effect you wish to select. This allows for precise, individual selection. Second, for selecting items within a specific area, hold down `Ctrl` (or `Cmd` on Mac) and drag your mouse to draw a selection rectangle. Any tokens or effects fully or partially within this rectangle will be selected.

Once multiple items are selected, you can perform bulk actions, making it simple to adjust entire groups of creatures, environmental hazards, or magical effects. This saves precious time during live sessions and map preparation, keeping the game flowing smoothly.

Question 19

Can I move, hide, or toggle names for multiple tokens and effects at once?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely! With TT-RPG's latest improvements, once you've selected multiple tokens or effects, you gain the power to manipulate them as a group. This significantly enhances your control over the battlefield and allows for dynamic adjustments during gameplay.

After using `Shift+click` or `Ctrl+drag` to select several items, you can perform various actions simultaneously. Dragging any one of the selected items will move the entire group, maintaining their relative positions. This is perfect for shifting an entire encounter or moving a group of players across the map.

Furthermore, you can now hide or toggle the name visibility for all selected tokens and effects with a single action. This is invaluable for revealing hidden enemies, making a group of NPCs disappear from view, or decluttering the map by temporarily hiding names. This level of bulk control empowers GMs to manage complex scenes with unprecedented ease.

Question 20

How can I quickly duplicate tokens and effects on my battle map?

Accepted Answer

TT-RPG now offers intuitive copy-paste functionality to instantly duplicate tokens and effects on your battle maps. This feature dramatically speeds up map preparation, allowing you to populate your scenes with recurring elements like trees, torches, or groups of enemies in a flash.

To use it, simply select the token or effect you wish to duplicate. You can then use standard keyboard shortcuts like `Ctrl+C` (or `Cmd+C` on Mac) to copy and `Ctrl+V` (or `Cmd+V` on Mac) to paste. A duplicate of your selected item will appear on the map, ready for you to reposition.

This is incredibly useful for building out complex environments or setting up encounters with multiple similar creatures. Imagine needing a forest of identical trees or a horde of goblins – copy-paste makes it a breeze, letting you focus on the narrative rather than repetitive clicks.

Question 21

Can I create my own custom Token Backgrounds and share them with the TT-RPG community?

Accepted Answer

Yes, TT-RPG empowers you to generate your own unique Token Backgrounds! Within the Token Background Picker, you'll find a **Generate New** tab. Here, you can describe the kind of circular background you envision, and the AI will create it for you.

Once you've generated a background you love, it becomes part of your personal library under 'My Backgrounds'. From there, you have the option to publish it to the wider TT-RPG community. This process typically involves a moderation workflow to ensure quality and appropriateness, similar to other shared assets.

Sharing your custom backgrounds allows other Game Masters to benefit from your creativity, enriching the entire TT-RPG ecosystem with a diverse array of visual styles and themes for their tokens.

Question 22

How does TT-RPG suggest token backgrounds that match my new tokens?

Accepted Answer

TT-RPG employs intelligent AI to help you find the perfect Token Background. When you're in the background picker for a new token, the **Suggested** strip at the top is powered by a sophisticated auto-matching system.

This system performs a cosine-similarity comparison between your new token's unique image embedding and the embeddings of all available Token Backgrounds (your own, admin defaults, and approved public ones). Essentially, the AI understands the visual and thematic content of your token portrait and then ranks backgrounds that are most similar or complementary.

This means you'll instantly see a curated selection of backgrounds that are most likely to fit your token's style and theme, saving you time and effort in finding the ideal visual pairing.

Question 23

Can I change a token's background after I've already created it?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely! You're not locked into a background choice once your token is created. You can easily change a token's background at any time by navigating to the token's detail sidebar in the editor.

Within the token's properties panel, you'll find the same comprehensive **Token Background Picker** that was available during creation. This sheet UI includes the **Suggested**, **Defaults**, **My Backgrounds**, **Public**, and **Generate New** tabs, giving you full flexibility.

Simply click on a new background from any of the tabs, and it will be instantly applied to your token. There's no need to hit a separate 'Save Changes' button, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow as you refine your token's appearance.

Question 24

How do I add a Token Background when I'm creating a new token?

Accepted Answer

When you're creating a new token in TT-RPG, after the AI has generated the token portrait, you'll proceed to a dedicated **Background** step in the creation wizard. This is where you can select or generate a suitable background for your token.

The background picker offers several tabs: **Suggested** (which uses AI to find the best matches for your new token), **Defaults** (curated options from the TT-RPG team), **My Backgrounds** (any you've created or saved), and **Public** (community-shared backgrounds). You can browse these options to find the perfect fit.

Alternatively, if you can't find what you're looking for, you can use the **Generate New** tab to create a fresh circular background inline using AI. Simply select your desired background, and it will be instantly saved and applied to your token, becoming part of that token's version history.

Question 25

What are Token Backgrounds and why should I use them for my characters and creatures?

Accepted Answer

Token Backgrounds in TT-RPG are circular, decorative images that are composited behind your transparent token portraits. Instead of a plain colored circle, these backgrounds add visual flair and thematic depth, making your tokens pop on the battle map.

They serve to enhance the overall aesthetic of your game, allowing you to match the token's frame to the character's personality, faction, or the environment they're in. This small detail significantly contributes to player immersion and makes your digital tabletop feel more polished and professional.

By using Token Backgrounds, you transform a simple portrait into a more complete and engaging visual asset, giving your players a clearer and more exciting representation of their characters and the NPCs they encounter.

Question 26

How can I easily regenerate or delete specific versions of my maps, tokens, or handouts?

Accepted Answer

Managing the version history of your creative assets is now more intuitive and efficient. You no longer need to navigate through complex menus to curate your past generations. TT-RPG provides direct actions for each version in your history.

When viewing the version history for a map, token, or handout, you'll find new **regenerate** and **delete** actions available directly on each individual version row. This means you can quickly regenerate a specific version if you want to iterate on an older idea, or delete unwanted versions to keep your history clean and organized.

This granular control allows you to experiment freely with AI generations, knowing that you can always revert to a previous state or remove iterations that didn't quite hit the mark, all from a single, convenient interface.

Question 27

Can I create maps, tokens, handouts, or dialogs directly from within the Campaign Editor?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely! To streamline your workflow and keep your campaign organized, you can now create any entity type directly from within the Campaign Editor. This includes Maps, Tokens (including NPCs), Handouts, and Dialogs.

When you're working in your campaign document, you no longer need to navigate to separate creation pages. The in-editor creation process now utilizes the **same full-featured wizard components** as their dedicated creation pages. This ensures a consistent and powerful creation experience, regardless of where you initiate it.

Simply use the appropriate in-editor command (e.g., typing `/` to embed an entity or using a specific wizard trigger) to open the creation wizard. Once created, these new entities are automatically linked into your active campaign, making it easier than ever to build out your world without breaking your creative flow.

Question 28

How can I adjust the verbosity of the Campaign Helper's responses?

Accepted Answer

The Campaign Helper is designed to be a flexible AI companion, and you can now customize how verbose its responses are to better suit your preferences. A new per-user **AI Detail Level** setting allows you to control the length and depth of the AI's output.

This setting applies to both the GM Helper mode (for campaign encyclopedia assistance) and the Play Session mode (for live session logging). You can choose between 'low', 'medium', or 'high' detail levels. 'Low' will provide concise answers, 'medium' offers a balanced approach, and 'high' will give you more elaborate and detailed responses.

To adjust this setting, access the AI Detail Level dialog, which is typically available through the Campaign Helper widget itself. Your chosen preference will be saved to your user profile, ensuring a consistent experience across all your sessions and campaign work.

Question 29

How do I get a distraction-free writing experience and quickly save my work in the Campaign Editor?

Accepted Answer

The Campaign Editor has been enhanced to provide a more focused and efficient writing environment for your campaign notes and lore. You can now dive into distraction-free writing with a new fullscreen toggle.

To activate fullscreen mode, look for the dedicated toggle button in the campaign editor's shell header. Clicking it will expand the editor to fill your entire screen, minimizing distractions and allowing you to concentrate fully on your content.

Additionally, saving your work is now more intuitive and immediate. You can quickly save any pending changes in the editor by using the familiar keyboard shortcut: **Ctrl/Cmd+S**. This action will immediately flush your changes, ensuring your latest edits are secured without delay.

Question 30

How can I prevent players from moving specific tokens during a live session?

Accepted Answer

As a Game Master, you now have precise control over token movement during live sessions. If you have a token that represents a downed PC, a static puzzle piece, or any other element you don't want players to move, you can easily lock its position.

Simply hover over the token on the map in the Map Editor's Play Mode. A new hover pill will appear, providing quick access to controls. Look for the clear amber lock icon on this pill. Clicking it will toggle the movement lock for that specific token.

When a token is locked, players assigned to it will no longer be able to drag it around the map, ensuring it stays exactly where you intend. This feature helps maintain the integrity of your battle map and scenario, especially for critical combat situations or intricate puzzles.

Question 31

How do players move their tokens in a live session?

Accepted Answer

Players can now freely drag their assigned tokens on the map at any time during a live session. Simply click and drag your token to move it to the desired location.

Question 32

How do I share my creations or discover content from other GMs in the Community Explore marketplace?

Accepted Answer

Question 34

How can the AI GM Helper assist me with session planning and NPC development within my campaign?

Accepted Answer

The AI GM Helper is your personal co-pilot, integrated directly into your campaign management system to streamline session planning, analyze your campaign, and develop rich NPCs. It's like having an experienced co-GM always ready to brainstorm.

Accessible via a sidebar chat within your campaign, the AI GM Helper understands the context of your entire campaign. Need ideas for a challenging encounter in the goblin caves you just detailed? Ask the AI. Struggling to connect two plot threads? The AI can analyze your existing documents and suggest compelling links. It can even help you flesh out an NPC's backstory, personality traits, and relationships based on their role in your story, saving you hours of creative effort.

This intelligent assistant is designed to spark your creativity and reduce prep time. By leveraging the AI's understanding of your specific campaign, you can ensure your world feels consistent, your NPCs are memorable, and your sessions are always engaging.

Question 35

How can I organize my campaign notes and link entities using the Campaign Manager wiki system?

Accepted Answer

TT-RPG's Campaign Manager provides an Obsidian-style wiki system, offering a powerful and flexible way to organize all your campaign content in one centralized location. Say goodbye to scattered notes and endless searching; everything you need is interconnected and at your fingertips.

Within the Campaign Manager, you can create a hierarchical folder structure, easily reorganizing your documents and folders with drag-and-drop, to categorize your documents, NPCs, locations, and plot hooks. The rich text editor supports markdown and features an auto-save function, so your work is always secure. The true power lies in its wiki-linking capability: simply type `[[` followed by the name of any existing entity (map, token, NPC, handout, dialog, or document), and the system will create a clickable link. Clicking these links will open documents directly in the sidebar, while maps, tokens, and handouts will open in a new tab for focused viewing. This allows you to build a web of interconnected information, making it easy to jump between related lore, character sheets, and encounter notes.

Furthermore, you can embed any entity as a block card directly into your campaign documents, providing visual context right where you need it. For even deeper insights, the **AI GM Helper chat sidebar** can assist with campaign analysis, and you can activate the optional **AI Campaign Critic** for advanced feedback. This integrated approach ensures that your world-building, session planning, and NPC development are all seamlessly linked, creating a living, breathing campaign bible that evolves with your story. No more flipping through binders or opening multiple applications – your entire campaign is a cohesive, searchable knowledge base.

Question 36

How does the 'Hot and Cold' Live Search mode work for player perception checks?

Accepted Answer

Transform mundane perception checks into an exciting, interactive experience with TT-RPG's Live Search mode. This unique 'Hot and Cold' mechanic uses haptic feedback on players' phones to simulate searching for hidden objects or clues on the map.

As the GM, you can place hidden 'search points' on your map, marking the locations of secret doors, hidden treasures, or crucial clues. During a live session, when players activate Live Search mode on their connected devices, their phones become a virtual Geiger counter for secrets. As they physically move their phone's cursor across the map on their screen, their device will provide haptic feedback – a subtle vibration that intensifies as they get 'hotter' (closer) to a hidden search point, and diminishes as they get 'colder' (further away).

This innovative system encourages active exploration and makes perception checks a tangible, engaging part of the game. Imagine your players' excitement as their phone starts buzzing, indicating they're nearing a crucial discovery! It adds a layer of physical interaction and suspense that traditional dice rolls simply can't replicate, making every search a mini-game of discovery.

Question 37

How do I use Fog of War and GM drawing tools to control player visibility during a live session?

Accepted Answer

The Fog of War system in TT-RPG gives you precise control over what your players can see, allowing for dramatic reveals and strategic exploration. Coupled with GM drawing tools, you can dynamically manage visibility and even annotate maps on the fly during a live session.

Activate the 'Fog of War' layer in Play Mode. Initially, the entire map can be shrouded in darkness. As your players explore, you can use intuitive reveal/shroud tools to dynamically expose new rooms, corridors, or hidden secrets. A key feature is the **adjustable brightness slider**, which allows you to control the intensity of the fog, letting you hint at what lurks in the shadows or create varying levels of visibility. You can also 'shroud' areas again if players retreat or if new dangers emerge, maintaining suspense and control.

Beyond revealing and shrouding, the GM drawing tools allow for freehand annotations directly on the map, with options for **color and brush size**. Highlight a point of interest, draw a temporary path, or use the 'highlight tool' to ping a specific area to draw player attention. For truly dramatic moments, use the 'zoom-to-area' feature to instantly focus all player screens on a critical detail, ensuring everyone's eyes are on the action. These tools empower you to guide your players' perception and enhance the narrative flow of your game.

Question 38

How do I set up a live session for my players using the Second Screen feature?

Accepted Answer

TT-RPG's Second Screen feature turns your players' devices into dynamic windows into your game world, providing real-time map synchronization and an immersive experience. Say goodbye to clunky screen sharing and hello to active player engagement.

To initiate a live session, open the map you wish to use and click the 'Go Live' button. TT-RPG will generate a unique, shareable URL. Simply provide this URL to your players, and they can open it on their phones, tablets, or secondary monitors. No downloads or accounts are required for them to join.

Once connected, your players will experience a dynamic view of the game world. They'll see the map update in real-time as you move tokens (which can be assigned to them!), reveal Fog of War with adjustable brightness, or activate visual effects. Beyond just the map, the live session also synchronizes combat initiative tracking, allows you to highlight specific areas, zoom all players to a particular region, and even control background music and ambient noise with smooth crossfades. For dramatic moments, use the Spotlight feature to push NPC portraits or dialogs directly to their screens. Furthermore, players can engage with the map through the unique Live Search Mode, using their phones to physically search for hidden points with haptic feedback. If you're using Connected Maps, players will seamlessly transition between them as you explore your 'One Big Map' workspace.

As the GM, you retain full control over the map, tokens, and game elements, while players enjoy a clean, interactive view tailored to their perspective. This seamless synchronization ensures everyone is on the same page, literally, and allows you to focus on storytelling rather than technical hurdles.

Question 39

How do I create dramatic NPC conversations and present them to my players using the Spotlight system?

Accepted Answer

The Dialog and Spotlight system in TT-RPG transforms static NPC interactions into engaging, cinematic moments. You can craft multi-participant conversations, imbue NPCs with emotions, and then present these dialogs dramatically to your players, making every reveal and interaction impactful.

To create a dialog, go to your campaign's 'Dialogs' section. Here, you can define participants (including your AI-generated NPC tokens), set their emotional states, and write out their lines. The AI can even assist in generating dialog based on character traits and context. You can link these dialogs directly to specific maps or locations, ensuring they're ready when your party arrives.

When it's time for a crucial conversation during a live session, activate the 'Spotlight' feature. This will overlay the NPC's portrait and their current dialog line directly onto your players' second screens, creating a powerful visual focus. You control the pacing, advancing the dialog line by line, allowing your players to fully immerse themselves in the interaction. This feature is perfect for dramatic reveals, tense negotiations, or heartfelt confessions, ensuring your NPCs leave a lasting impression.

Question 40

How can I add dynamic environmental effects like fire or fog to my battle maps?

Accepted Answer

Bring your battle maps to life with TT-RPG's **Effects System**, allowing you to overlay transparent environmental elements like crackling fires, swirling mists, or magical auras. These dynamic effects can dramatically enhance the atmosphere of your encounters and provide visual cues for spells or environmental hazards.

To add an effect, open your map in the editor and navigate to the 'Effects' browser. From there, you have two powerful options:

1. **Browse the Community Library**: Explore a vast collection of pre-made effects shared by other GMs.
2. **Generate with AI**: Create a brand new effect tailored to your needs. Simply click 'Create New Effect', provide a **Name** and a detailed **Description** of the visual effect (e.g., "A magical shimmering aura around a pedestal" or "Thick, rolling fog covering the swamp"), and select an **Art Style**. The AI will then generate a transparent overlay for you. *Note: Each AI effect generation costs 1 credit.*

Once you have your desired effect, simply **drag and drop** it from the browser onto your map. You have full control to resize, rotate, and adjust its opacity to blend seamlessly with the scene. You can even layer multiple effects to create complex and immersive environments. All placed effects are synced in real-time to your players' screens during a live session, ensuring everyone experiences the same dynamic environment. Experiment with different combinations to set the perfect mood for your encounters!

Question 41

How do I create and use AI-generated handouts in my campaign?

Accepted Answer

TT-RPG's AI-powered handout generation transforms your campaign prep, allowing you to instantly create immersive props like ancient letters, wanted posters, item cards, or evocative scene illustrations. No more searching for the perfect image – just describe it, and let the AI bring it to life.

### Creating Handouts
You have two powerful ways to generate handouts:

1. **From a Text Prompt**:
    * Navigate to the **Handout Creation** page (`/handouts/new`).
    * Provide a **Name** for your handout.
    * Choose a **Type**: **Document** (for letters, scrolls), **Scene** (for environmental illustrations), or **Item** (for artifacts, treasures).
    * Write a detailed **Description** of what you envision. Our AI will even provide real-time quality scores and improvement suggestions to help you get the best results!
    * Optionally, select a **Game Setting** and **Art Style** to guide the AI's aesthetic.
    * You can also use the **Sample Templates** sidebar for quick inspiration.
    * Click "Generate Handout," and in moments, your custom prop is ready!

2. **From a Map Area**:
    * While in the **Map Editor**, you can select a specific region on your battle map.
    * Prompt the AI to generate a handout *from that exact viewpoint*. This is perfect for creating close-up views of a specific object, a detailed section of a room, or an item card found in a particular spot.

Every handout you generate is automatically saved and versioned, allowing you to experiment freely and revert to previous iterations at any time. Once generated, handouts can be easily linked and organized within your campaigns using the Campaign Manager.

### Using Handouts in Your Session
Handouts are designed to enhance player immersion during live sessions:

* **Instant Sharing**: During a live session, simply select the handout you wish to reveal from your library. It will instantly appear on all connected player screens, providing a tangible in-game item or a dramatic scene reveal.
* **Interactive Elements**: You can even embed **Search Points** within handouts, allowing players to discover hidden details using the Live Search mode on their phones.
* **Atmospheric Music**: Attach **AI-generated background music** directly to your handouts to set the perfect mood when they are revealed.

Finding your handouts later is easy with **Semantic Search**, which understands the meaning of your descriptions, not just keywords. TT-RPG ensures your players are always engaged with rich, dynamic content.

Question 42

How can I create detailed NPCs with AI-generated backstories, personalities, and relationship mapping?

Accepted Answer

TT-RPG's **NPC Mode** transforms the tedious task of NPC creation into an exciting, creative process. Instead of just a name and a stat block, you can leverage the AI to generate rich, multi-faceted character profiles that breathe life into your world. When creating a token, simply toggle 'Create as NPC' and provide a basic concept. The AI can then automatically flesh out details like **race, occupation/class, personality traits, a compelling backstory, motivations, secrets, and even voice notes** to help you roleplay them authentically. You can even use the **'Generate Details' checkbox** to have the AI fill in empty NPC fields for you with a single click.

This goes beyond simple text generation. The AI crafts coherent narratives and consistent personalities, ensuring your NPCs feel like real individuals within your campaign. Imagine needing a gruff dwarven blacksmith with a hidden past, or a mischievous elven rogue with a secret agenda – the AI can generate these intricate details on demand, saving you countless hours of writing and ensuring your world feels vibrant and lived-in.

Furthermore, TT-RPG allows for **relationship mapping between NPCs**. You can define how different characters interact, their alliances, rivalries, and familial ties. The AI can even suggest potential conflicts or plot hooks based on these relationships. This interconnected web of characters adds incredible depth to your storytelling, making every interaction more meaningful and every revelation more impactful.

To truly bring these characters to life at your table, TT-RPG integrates a powerful **Dialog System**. You can generate AI-powered conversations for your NPCs, complete with participants and location context. Then, use the **Spotlight** feature to dramatically present NPC portraits and their dialog lines directly to your players' screens, ensuring every interaction has maximum impact. With NPC Mode, your supporting cast becomes as memorable as your player characters.

Question 43

How do I generate character and creature tokens in TT-RPG, and manage my personal token library?

Accepted Answer

TT-RPG revolutionizes character and creature token creation with its **AI Token Generation** system. Instead of endless searching, you simply describe the character or creature you envision, and the AI generates a high-quality, circular portrait token, perfectly suited for your battle maps.

When creating a token, you provide a **Name** and a detailed **Description** (which benefits from AI-powered quality scoring and improvement suggestions). You also select an **Art Style** and an optional **Game Setting** to guide the AI's visual output. Crucially, you can set functional properties like **Max Health** and **Default Size** (e.g., 1x1 for a human, 2x2 for a large monster) directly during creation.

For your most important characters, TT-RPG offers a dedicated **NPC Mode**. By toggling 'Create as NPC', you unlock additional fields like Race, Occupation/Class, Personality Traits, Backstory, Motivations, Voice Notes, and even a Secret (GM Only). You can choose to have the AI automatically generate details for these fields, saving you immense prep time for rich, engaging NPCs.

All your generated tokens are automatically saved to your **personal token library**, providing a centralized hub for all your campaign's inhabitants. This library supports **semantic search**, allowing you to find tokens by meaning, not just keywords. Every generation is saved with **version history**, so you can experiment freely and revert to previous designs. You can also **publish tokens** to the community explore page for others to use.

Once created, tokens are fully integrated into the **Live Session System**. Easily drag-and-drop them onto any map, assign them to players, and utilize them for **combat and initiative tracking**, ensuring your sessions flow smoothly and your characters are always ready for action.

Question 44

Can I use reference images to influence the AI map generation, and what are the best practices?

Accepted Answer

Yes, TT-RPG offers two powerful ways to use reference images to influence AI map generation, giving you enhanced control over both the aesthetic and the structural layout of your maps.

1. **For Visual Style and Mood (Direct Generation)**: When creating a map directly, you can upload a **Reference Image** to guide the AI's visual output. The AI analyzes its color schemes, lighting, textures, and overall artistic style, then uses these insights to inform its own generation process. This is perfect for achieving a consistent look across maps, replicating a specific artistic flair, or matching the mood of a photograph or concept art.

2. **For Structural Layout (Layout-Based Generation)**: In the layout editor, you can upload a **Tracing Guide**. This reference image appears as a semi-transparent overlay, allowing you to paint your terrain colors and define the map's structure by tracing over an existing blueprint, sketch, or real-world floor plan. The AI then transforms your painted layout into a detailed battle map, adhering to the structure you've defined.

For best practices, choose clear, high-quality images. For visual style, select images that strongly represent the aesthetic or mood you're aiming for. For tracing guides, use images with clear lines and shapes that are easy to follow. Remember, the AI interprets rather than copies directly, so experiment to see how different images subtly or dramatically shift your map's final appearance and structure.

Question 45

How do I choose the right map resolution, aspect ratio, and ensure proper grid alignment for my encounters?

Accepted Answer

Choosing the correct **map resolution** is crucial for visual fidelity and performance. TT-RPG offers options between 1K (1024x1024 pixels) and 4K (4096x4096 pixels). For most standard encounters and faster generation, 1K is often sufficient. However, if you're planning a large-scale battle, a highly detailed scene, or intend to zoom in extensively, opting for 4K will provide crisp, high-definition visuals that truly pop on player screens. Consider your players' devices and internet speeds when making this choice, as higher resolutions require more bandwidth.

**Aspect ratios** dictate the shape of your map. While square (1:1) is common, you can select ratios like 16:9 (widescreen) or 9:16 (portrait) to perfectly frame specific encounters. A long, narrow corridor might benefit from a widescreen aspect, while a towering vertical shaft could use a portrait orientation. Thinking about the primary action zone and player perspective will help you pick the most effective ratio, ensuring your map composition enhances the tactical experience.

Finally, TT-RPG features a **smart grid system** that automatically aligns your AI-generated maps to a perfect grid. This is essential for accurate token movement and combat tracking. You can adjust grid size to match your preferred scale (e.g., 5ft squares). The AI is designed to generate elements that naturally fit within this grid, minimizing the need for manual adjustments. This ensures that your maps are not just beautiful, but also perfectly functional for live play, allowing you to focus on the story, not fiddling with alignment.

Question 46

How do thematic game settings and time of day options specifically influence my AI-generated maps?

Accepted Answer

TT-RPG's **Game Settings** and **Time of Day** options are powerful levers that allow you to precisely control the atmosphere and thematic context of your AI-generated maps. When you select a thematic context like "Medieval," "Sci-Fi," "Post-Apocalyptic," or "Cyberpunk," the AI intelligently adjusts its generation to include appropriate architectural styles, environmental details, and even subtle prop placements. A "Medieval" tavern will feature wooden beams and stone hearths, while a "Sci-Fi" one might have neon lights and metallic surfaces, ensuring your map is always congruent with your campaign's genre.

Beyond genre, the **Time of Day** settings – Dawn, Midday, Sunset, and Night – dramatically influence the lighting, shadows, and overall mood of your map. Choosing "Dawn" will bathe your scene in soft, warm light with long shadows, evoking a sense of new beginnings or quiet mystery. "Midday" provides bright, direct illumination, perfect for clear, tactical encounters. "Sunset" casts dramatic, fiery hues across the landscape, ideal for climactic battles or poignant moments. "Night" plunges the map into darkness, requiring torches or magical light sources, and heightening tension and stealth opportunities.

These dynamic database-driven settings are more than just filters; they are core parameters that guide the AI's creative process. By combining specific game settings with the perfect time of day, you can craft battle maps that not only look stunning but also deeply enhance the narrative and emotional impact of your tabletop sessions.

Question 47

What are the available art styles in TT-RPG, and can I create my own custom styles?

Accepted Answer

TT-RPG offers a diverse palette of art styles to ensure your battle maps perfectly match the aesthetic of your campaign. We provide four robust built-in styles: **Fantasy Map** for classic, illustrative RPG visuals; **Hand Drawn** for a more organic, sketched feel; **Realistic** for gritty, immersive detail; and **3D Rendered** for a modern, almost miniature-like perspective. These styles dynamically influence every aspect of your map generation, from textures and lighting to the overall visual fidelity.

But the creativity doesn't stop there! TT-RPG embraces a vibrant community-driven approach, allowing you to **create and share your own custom community styles**. This means you're not limited to our presets; you can define unique visual parameters, color palettes, and artistic interpretations to craft a style that's truly yours. Whether you want a specific comic book look, a painterly aesthetic, or something entirely novel, the tools are there to empower your artistic vision.

Once created, these custom styles can be published to the community marketplace, allowing other GMs to discover and utilize your unique creations. This fosters a rich ecosystem of artistic expression, ensuring that every GM can find or forge the perfect visual identity for their world. Experimenting with different styles can dramatically alter the mood and atmosphere of your encounters, making each session feel fresh and visually engaging.

Question 48

How do I create a seamless multi-map environment with "Connected Maps" and the "One Big Map" feature?

Accepted Answer

Breaking immersion by switching between separate map files is a thing of the past with TT-RPG's **Connected Maps** and **One Big Map** feature. This powerful system allows you to link individual battle maps directionally (North, South, East, West), creating a sprawling, seamless environment for your players to explore. Imagine your party venturing from a forest clearing, through a mountain pass, and into a hidden valley – all on one continuous, interactive canvas.

When you link maps, TT-RPG's AI intelligently generates **transition zones** between them. These aren't just hard cuts; the AI creates natural-looking pathways, changes in terrain, or architectural elements that smoothly connect one map to the next. This ensures that as your players move from one area to another, the experience remains fluid and immersive, enhancing the sense of a living, breathing world.

Building your "One Big Map" is intuitive. Simply generate your individual maps, then use the linking interface in the map editor to specify which direction they connect. The AI handles the heavy lifting of blending the edges, allowing you to focus on the narrative. During a live session, this unified workspace means that tokens, fog of war, and drawings seamlessly span across all connected maps, and your players will see the entire connected cluster on their screens, providing an unparalleled sense of scale and continuity for your campaigns. This feature is perfect for large dungeons, overland travel, or multi-stage encounters.

Question 49

How can I refine my generated maps or change specific areas using inpainting and the Brush Tool?

Accepted Answer

TT-RPG empowers you to achieve pixel-perfect precision with its **Iterative Refinement** and **Inpainting** features. Once you have a generated map, you're not stuck with it. You can continue the conversation, telling the AI exactly what you want to change. For example, if you have a forest map, you might say, "Add a small clearing with a campfire here," or "Make the trees denser on the western side."

For even more granular control, the **Brush Tool** is your secret weapon. This allows you to mask specific areas of your map, telling the AI to *only* regenerate within that painted region. Imagine you have a door you want to change, or you want to add a hidden chest in a corner. Simply select the Brush Tool, paint over the exact spot, and then provide a new prompt like "change this door to a sturdy oak door" or "add a small, locked wooden chest here." The AI will then intelligently regenerate only the masked area, seamlessly blending the new elements with the existing map.

To get the best results from follow-up prompts and inpainting, be specific and clear. Focus on one or two changes at a time. The AI is designed to understand context, so it will try to match the existing art style and environment. This surgical precision means you can iterate until your map is absolutely perfect, without having to start from scratch.

Question 50

Can I guide the AI map generation with a basic layout or sketch using terrain colors?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely! TT-RPG offers a powerful **Layout-Based Generation** mode that lets you guide the AI's map creation with a visual blueprint. Instead of relying solely on text, you can paint basic terrain colors onto a canvas to define the general shape and distribution of features on your map. Think of it as giving the AI a rough sketch before it fills in the intricate details.

This mode is incredibly useful when you have a specific spatial arrangement in mind – perhaps a winding river, a central fortress, or distinct biomes within a single map. You can assign different colors to represent various terrain types like water, forest, mountains, or open plains, using preset palettes (Outdoor, Indoor, Custom) to streamline your work. The AI then uses this color-coded layout as a strong foundational guide, ensuring the generated map adheres closely to your intended structure.

For even greater precision, you can optionally upload a **Tracing Guide** – a reference image that appears as a semi-transparent overlay, allowing you to trace its contours directly onto your layout. This helps the AI interpret your vision, transforming your simple sketch into a detailed battle map.

To get the best results, use Layout-Based Generation when the *spatial arrangement* is critical. For more abstract or atmospheric scenes where the exact layout is less important, a text-only prompt might be quicker. Experiment with different colors and see how the AI interprets your vision!

Question 51

How does TT-RPG's iterative conversation and AI generate custom battle maps?

Accepted Answer

TT-RPG revolutionizes map creation by allowing you to describe your vision in natural language, just like chatting with a fellow GM. Instead of static prompts, you can refine your maps through an iterative conversation. Start with a broad idea like "a goblin cave with a river," and then follow up with requests like "make the river wider" or "add a bridge here." The AI understands these conversational cues, adapting and evolving the map to your precise specifications.

What makes a good prompt? Be descriptive but concise. Think about key elements: terrain, structures, points of interest, and atmosphere. For example, "A dense, ancient forest clearing with a crumbling stone altar in the center, surrounded by overgrown ruins" is more effective than just "forest map." The AI will interpret these details to generate a top-down, grid-aligned battle map ready for your players.

Expect playable maps in seconds, designed to spark your imagination. While the AI is powerful, remember it's a creative partner. Sometimes, a slight rephrasing or a follow-up prompt can unlock the perfect result. Embrace the iterative process – it's designed to give you precision control and speed, enabling improvisation even mid-session.

Question 52

How do I place and manage tokens on my battle maps during a live session?

Accepted Answer

During a live session, bringing your characters and creatures onto the battle map is seamless with TT-RPG's intuitive Play Mode. This feature is designed to make token management quick and efficient, allowing you to focus on the narrative and action rather than fiddling with controls.

When you enter Play Mode for a map, you'll have access to your token library. Simply **drag-and-drop** any token from your browser directly onto the map. Once placed, you can easily move tokens around the grid, resize them to fit different creature sizes, or remove them if they're no longer needed. All these actions are instantly synchronized, meaning your players, connected via their second screens, will see the map update in real-time.

Beyond basic placement, TT-RPG also integrates **initiative tracking** directly with your tokens. This allows you to manage combat turns efficiently. The real-time synchronization ensures that every player sees the current state of the battle map, fostering a truly interactive and immersive experience at your table.

Question 53

How can I track relationships between NPCs in my campaign using TT-RPG?

Accepted Answer

Managing the intricate web of relationships between your non-player characters is crucial for a dynamic and believable campaign world. TT-RPG provides a dedicated system to help you track these connections, making it easier to remember who's allied with whom, who holds a grudge, or who's part of the same family.

Once you've created your NPCs, you can easily link them together. In the NPC detail view, you'll find an option to add relationships. Here, you can specify the type of connection between two characters, choosing from a variety of relationship types such as **ally, rival, family member, mentor, apprentice, lover, enemy, or even a simple acquaintance**.

These defined relationships are not just static notes; they appear directly within the NPC's profile, giving you an at-a-glance overview of their social network. This feature helps GMs maintain consistency, develop compelling social encounters, and ensure that the actions of one NPC can realistically ripple through the lives of others in your campaign.

Question 54

Can TT-RPG's AI automatically generate backstories and personality traits for my NPCs?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely! TT-RPG's AI is a powerful tool for quickly fleshing out your non-player characters, especially when you need to populate your world with engaging personalities without spending hours on every detail. This is where the **"Generate AI Details"** feature for NPCs comes in handy.

When you're creating or editing an NPC, you'll find the option to enable "Generate AI Details." With this feature active, the AI will intelligently fill in empty fields such as backstory, motivations, personality traits, race, and class. The best part is that it respects your existing work: the AI will *only* generate content for fields that are currently blank, ensuring it never overwrites any details you've already meticulously crafted.

This feature is a game-changer for GMs who need to quickly create a cast of minor characters, populate a bustling city, or improvise an encounter on the fly. It provides a solid foundation for your NPCs, allowing you to focus on the bigger picture of your campaign while the AI handles the intricate details.

Question 55

What's the difference between a Token and an NPC in TT-RPG?

Accepted Answer

In TT-RPG, **Tokens** and **NPCs** serve distinct but often interconnected purposes, designed to enhance both tactical gameplay and narrative depth. Understanding their differences helps you leverage each feature effectively.

**Tokens** are primarily visual, circular portraits used on your battle maps during live sessions. They represent characters, monsters, or objects and come with essential gameplay stats like health, conditions, and grid size. Tokens are your tactical pieces, allowing you to track positions, movement, and initiative during combat or exploration.

**NPCs (Non-Player Characters)**, on the other hand, are rich character profiles built for storytelling and roleplay. They encompass detailed information such as backstory, personality traits, motivations, relationships, and even voice notes. NPCs are the heart of your narrative, providing depth and interaction beyond just their presence on a map.

Crucially, you can create a token *as* an NPC, combining both functionalities. This means a single entry can have both a visual representation for the map and a comprehensive character profile for roleplaying. While tokens are for tactical use, NPCs are for bringing your world to life through compelling characters.

Question 56

How do I create AI-generated character tokens for my campaign?

Accepted Answer

Creating AI-generated character tokens in TT-RPG is a straightforward process designed to get your characters onto the battle map quickly. Tokens are the visual representations of your characters or creatures during gameplay, perfect for tactical encounters.

To get started, navigate to the `/tokens/create` section of the app. Here, you'll fill in essential details like the token's name and a brief description. You can also set its maximum health and default grid size, which helps with accurate placement on your battle maps. The AI will then generate a unique circular portrait based on your input.

**Pro Tip:** While creating a token, you have the option to simultaneously create it as an NPC. This allows you to immediately add richer character details like personality traits, backstory, and motivations, seamlessly integrating your tactical piece with its narrative depth. This dual creation saves you time and keeps your campaign elements organized.

Question 57

What languages does TT-RPG support for its interface and AI generation?

Accepted Answer

TT-RPG is built with a global community of Game Masters in mind, offering robust multilingual support to enhance your experience. The entire user interface of the application is available in three key languages:

*   **English (EN)**
*   **German (Deutsch)**
*   **Brazilian Portuguese (Português)**

You can easily switch between these languages in your settings to navigate the app in the language you're most comfortable with. This ensures that all menus, buttons, and instructional text are clear and accessible.

Beyond the interface, our powerful AI, powered by Google Gemini, is incredibly versatile when it comes to content generation. While the app's UI is localized, you can provide prompts for map descriptions, NPC backstories, handout text, and more in **any language you choose**. The AI will understand your input and generate content accordingly, allowing you to create campaign materials in your native tongue or any language relevant to your game world.

Question 58

Question 62

If I regenerate my map, how can I ensure the new version still aligns with my original campaign vision?

Accepted Answer

Regenerating a map for large-scale changes doesn't mean abandoning your campaign vision; it means giving the AI a clearer, updated blueprint. The key to ensuring alignment lies in your **prompt engineering** and leveraging TT-RPG's organizational features. Before initiating a full regeneration, take a moment to refine your prompt, incorporating all the essential elements of your campaign vision for the new map.

Be specific and descriptive. If your original map was a 'forest clearing with an ancient altar' and you now want a 'swampy ruin with a crumbling temple,' ensure your new prompt clearly articulates these core elements. Consider using keywords from your campaign notes or character backstories to infuse the map with thematic relevance. The **Description Refinement** tool can be invaluable here, suggesting improvements to your prompt to ensure the AI understands your intent.

Additionally, remember that **Version History** is your safety net. Every generation is saved, allowing you to compare different versions side-by-side. You can generate several iterations, review them, and even branch off a promising one for further refinement. This iterative process, combined with a well-crafted prompt, empowers you to maintain creative control and ensure your regenerated map perfectly serves your evolving campaign narrative.

Question 63

What are the advantages of performing a full map regeneration compared to making many small iterative changes?

Accepted Answer

While iterative refinement is incredibly powerful for fine-tuning and adding details, a full map regeneration offers distinct advantages, especially when you're aiming for significant conceptual shifts. One primary benefit is a **fresh start**. When you regenerate, the AI isn't constrained by the existing pixel data or the 'memory' of previous prompts. It can interpret your new prompt with a clean slate, often leading to more creative and unexpected layouts that might not emerge from incremental adjustments.

Another advantage is **efficiency for drastic changes**. Attempting to transform a map's core structure or environment through numerous small iterative changes can sometimes be more time-consuming than simply regenerating. The AI might struggle to reconcile conflicting elements from previous generations with your new directions, leading to less optimal results or requiring more prompt engineering to 'undo' prior decisions.

Furthermore, a full regeneration can help you **break out of creative ruts**. If you've been refining a map for a while and feel stuck, a fresh generation based on a slightly different prompt can provide new inspiration and entirely new possibilities for your encounter. It's a powerful way to explore alternative designs quickly, knowing that **Version History** allows you to branch and revert freely, preserving all your previous work.

Question 64

When should I regenerate an entire map instead of using the Brush Tool for specific changes?

Accepted Answer

The decision to regenerate an entire map versus using the **Brush Tool** comes down to the scale and nature of the changes you want to make. If you're looking to make minor adjustments, add small details, or modify a specific, localized area (like changing a door, adding a chest, or altering a small patch of terrain), the Brush Tool is your best friend. It allows for precise, surgical edits without affecting the rest of your carefully crafted map.

However, if your vision involves a fundamental transformation of the map's overall layout, perspective, or environment, a full regeneration is often the more efficient and effective approach. Think of it as starting with a fresh canvas for a completely new scene, rather than trying to repaint a small section of an existing masterpiece.

For example, if you want to shift the primary geographical features, drastically alter the map's theme (e.g., from a lush forest to a barren desert), or change the overall structure of a building, regenerating the entire map will give the AI the freedom to create a cohesive new design from scratch. This prevents the AI from trying to force new elements into an existing, incompatible structure, which can sometimes lead to less satisfying results when using the Brush Tool for very large areas.
